FIFA World Cup 2018: Today Matches [25 June 2018]

The 21st edition of FIFA World Cup has reached the last phase of group stage round. From today onwards, remaining matches of all 8 groups will be played simultaneously to so that no side could benefit from the result of the other game. The hosts will take on against Uruguay and at the same time, Saudi Arabia will face Egypt. Three teams of Group B are still alive in the competition. So Iran will play Portugal and Spain will face Morocco at the same time. So if you still have not experienced the best of Football, then brace yourselves for the remaining fixtures.

The next four days of group stage will decide who is going to continue their World Cup campaign and who is going back to home. The third and final phase of group stage is on its way. Team which have already qualify for the next round are Russia, Uruguay, France, Croatia, Mexico, England, and Belgium. So seven teams have booked their places for the next round and 9 remaining team will qualify within a few days.

Saudi Arabia Vs Egypt

Both are out of the competition and will play the remaining game to gain some respect. Saudi Arabia are yet to score their first ever goal in this competition. This will be Egypt’s first ever World Cup match against an Asian team and the third different continent they’ve faced after Europe and South America.

Uruguay Vs Russia

Host nation Russia and Uruguay have qualified for the Round of 16. This game will decide the Winners and the Runners-up of Group A. Having the goal difference advantage, Russia is currently at the top spot which means a draw will make them group winners. Russia have lost each of their last 4 World Cup matches with South American teams, scoring once including their 1970 World Cup loss to Uruguay.

Iran vs Portugal

  • Group: B

This is the last chance for Iran and Portugal to remain in the competition. Portugal’s first draw with Spain and a win against Morocco earned them 4 points in first two games. The Navigators are currently at the second position with Spain. Either win or draw of Portugal will send them in the Round of 16. Portugal have won three of their four World Cup games against Asian opposition, losing against host nation South Korea in 2002.

  • Group: B

La Roja are eyeing to finish the group at the top spot. But they need a win at any cost to do so. Morocco have not scored so far in this World Cup. They are eliminated from World Cup so they won’t have any pressure. Meanwhile, Spain will have enough pressure to get the three points.
