Football Tournaments/Competitions After 2018 FIFA World Cup

What a FIFA World Cup it was! The whole World enjoyed the best of Football for 31 days and thanks to Russia for making this competition even better. But what next? What are the upcoming football competitions? The World Cup may have ended but it gives green light to the beginning of new season.

This year will be remembered for the amazing World Cup hosted by Russia plus the inaugural season of International competition known as “UEFA Nations League.” Yeah, the competition is finally set to begin this year with European teams. But before the kick-off, there will be club friendlies in International Champions Cup scheduled from July to August. Check out the list of upcoming Football tournaments.

International Champions Cup 2018

End date: 12 August 2018

The 6th edition of pre season club-friendly competition will be played just after the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This is the place where Champions meet before the new season. Top clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and other clubs from around the world competes in friendly association football matches.

The International Champions Cup is also known as ICC. This time, 18 football clubs will participate in this tournament who will play 22 host cities of 10 countries. 6 teams from England will play the Championship, more than any other nation.

Premier League 2018-19

End date: 12 May 2019

The most popular Football league in the World is set to begin from 10th August. Manchester City are the defending Champions of Premier League who dominated the league last season. The three promoted teams for this season are Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City, and Fulham who replaced West Brom, Swansea City and Stoke City.

La Liga 2018-19

Spain’s top professional football league will begin on 19 August this year. For the first time in the history of La Liga, VAR [Video Assistant Referee] will be used. Catalan club Barcelona are the defending Champions. Huesca, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid are the promoted teams. On the other hand, Malaga, Las Palmas and Deportivo La Coruna are the relegated teams for this La Liga season.

Serie A 2018-19

On the same day, Italy’s top league, Serie A will kick off. This will be the 117th edition of Serie A in which Juventus play as a defending Champions. The club recently signed Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. On his arrival, Juan Cuadrado hand over him number 7 jersey.

Bundesliga 2018-19

German fans can watch the Bundesliga this season from 24th August. This season marks the 56th edition of the competition. Bayern Munich, the most successful team of this tournament will again play it as the defending Champions. The promoted teams are Fortuna Dusseldorf and FC Nurnberg.

Ligue 1 2018-19

Ligue 1 will be different this season as French team won the second World Cup in Russia. The 81st edition of this league will feature World Cup stars with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Edinson Cavani.

UEFA Nations League 2018-19

The first International league that will lower the unlikely friendly games of Europe. UEFA Nations League 2018-19 is the first edition of this competition scheduled to begin from 6th September. Total 55 national teams will participate in a 4 Leagues until 20 November. Nation League finals are to be held from 5 to 9 June 2019.

UEFA Champions League 2018-19

UEFA Champions League is the biggest football club competition which has already started the qualifying stage. Its proper competition will start from 18 September 2018 in which 32 teams from 54 associations will compete. Spanish club Real Madrid are the defending Champions who became the first team of UCL era to win three back to back Champions League titles.
