Spanish club Real Madrid has announced the 20 men squad to face CSKA Moscow in their upcoming match of the UEFA Champions League. After two back to back goalless games, Real Madrid is in danger at the start of the season. The club lost two chances to get the top spot in the domestic league La Liga. The European Champions have played just a game in the Champions League and will now face the Russian side CSKA Moscow. Head coach Julen Lopetegui have is likely to play the best possible 11 against the Russian club.
Real Madrid Squad against CSKA Moscow
On 30th September, Real Madrid officially announced a list of 20 players who will fly to Russia for the group stage game of UEFA Champions League. Keylor Navas, Casilla, and Courtois are among the goalkeepers with forwards including Mariano, Benzema, Lucas Vazquez, and Vinicius Jr.
Goalkeepers: K. Navas, K. Casilla, Courtois
Defenders: Carvajal, Vallejo, Varane, Nacho, Odriozola, Reguilon
Midfielders: Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Valverde, Llorente, Asensio, Ceballos
Forwards: Mariano, Benzema, Lucas Vazquez, Vinicius Jr.
The list excluded Gareth Bale who is injured and will not play against CSKA Moscow. For the first time in his 6 seasons at Real Madrid, Modric will line up for a Champions League tie without the all-time top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Alvaro Odriozola, the 22-year-old right back, could make his Champions League debut on Tuesday in the absence of Marcelo and Sergio Ramos. He was signed from Real Sociedad for 35 million euros in the summer.
Dani Ceballos bought as a 20-year-old for 17 million euros from Real Betis, came on for Bale against Atletico Madrid last weekend. Marco Asensio, perhaps the policy’s poster boy, was brought just under four million euros as an 18-year-old from Real Mallorca.
