Journey of Panama for the finals of 2018 World Cup was even harder for Panama. Los Canaleros first went through Group B where they finished at second position. Thereafter, they qualified for fifth round of CONCACAF qualification. Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, United States and Trinidad and Tobago were qualified teams of fifth round. Panama and Honduras had 13 points each, but based on goal difference Panama qualified for World Cup.
