Andres Cunha is picked up as the main referee of France vs Belgium 1st semifinal of 2018 FIFA World Cup. The governing body FIFA have confirmed that the Uruguayan referee will take the charge at the Saint Petersburg on 10th July. He will be assisted by the assistant referees Nicolas Taran and Mauricio Espinoza.

The 41 year old South American official has already officiated two group stage games in this competition. The first was France vs Australia and the Spain vs Iran. He was the first to take help of Video Assistant Referee in that awarded France penalty in their opening game of the tournament.
Cunha is refereeing domestic games in Uruguayan Primera Division since 2010. He has been a FIFA listed referee since 2013 and has refereed a number of major games in the Copa Libertadores and Copa America. He has also refereed 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Korea Republic during the international games.

France vs Belgium will kick-off at 11:30 pm on 10 July according to IST. The iconic Saint Petersburg stadium is the host venue for the first semifinal of 2018 FIFA World Cup. Both teams are undefeated in this competition. Belgium never won against France in a World Cup game.
